On God... not my God Vs your God
We friends - friendship of some 40 years vintage, suddenly discovered - started discussing God. Let me first explain - we are all from a School Batch of 1967 - we got together recently after a gap of 40+ years in Kolkota, India for a Centenary celebrations of our School - ya, you got it right, not us, but the school. We found a whole world opening before us. What started as a skeptical, careful approach, turned out instead, uproarious get together-s. We got a group in Google soon, we got our own website, et-all. Casually we started discussing God as a concept - not a God as a particular religious concept, but God as a concept. The topic grows daily. I thought we can share it with all......
Hi Sundar,
I think this topic is worth putting in common area for many to contribute, may be shift to Kolkota Tamilians for participation. A small unbiased inquiry. More to clear my own mind, with inputs.
1. Astrology and Palmistry: No one can say it is completely untrue. If someone is unbiased, they need to grudgingly agree that it works - and if you take off the frauds and self serving prophesies, then too it has some truth in it. As a Doctor and a Science based professional, you will agree any scientist needs one verification and it cannot anymore be denied.
There are too many proofs, so it has to be something beyond us. It is a truth beyond comprehension by science as of now; but science seeks and hence it will get there.
What to you say?
Love Krishnan

HONESTLY NO - HAVING SAID THAT I HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE THINGS PREDICTED BY ASTROLOGY AND PALMISTRY DID GO RIGHT - NOT QUESTIONING THE SCIENCE BUT WOULD NOT BE AFFECTED BY THAT - THIS STILL EXPLAINS THE SCIENCE OF PALMISTRY AND ASTROLOGY ONLY BUT NOT GOD.
U believe in palmistry n astrology.

Hi
...on friendship a nice forward I recd., sharing with you ! Quite true with in my case !! fondly, BR
As I have stated people doing the specialities (ASTROLOGY AND PALMISTRY) do a lot of studying and then draw up their conclusions. To me it is like any other subject but one has to go deep into it. It is like Medicine where you can get different grades of Doctors. Similarly you can have people at different levels of competence and can differ in their opinion - but WHERE IS GOD HERE?

We will go step by step. Once we say we agree there is something which is beyond comprehension and there is something beyond our understanding we proceed to next step

Beyond our understanding is because we have not tried to do it - how good are we at cricket, football, medicine, law, business - people who study or get involved in different speciality will obviously keep improving on their understanding - like they have progressed upto creating life. I am not against people believing in God or have any reservations on their beliefs, but I honestly cannot understand God or believe in the possible existance of GOD. Sundar

Yes Sundar, it is a skill on which you become better and better. Like a surgeon becoming better with more and more operations under his belt. A palmist will become better at predictions with more and more instances and cases.
That is correct. But then the whole point is different. A surgeon cuts open to see an organ which is there as per anatomy. A Palmist however, predicts a future, which is not there. Future he is able to predict and so we agree there is a future event which is pre-determined. At least options of future exists; so future and of course past exists. Earlier we agreed that if there is one proof of concept, it should be agreeable to a scientist; even if the Palmist goofs up 1000 times, he gets it right once, there is proof of concpet. So there is a foreseeable, predictable future.
This fascinates me. This is a direction we can explore together. If there is a future, what is it? Is it a karma or is it just a medical fact which somehow connects to the anatomy as it exists? Or is it just the concept of time and motion as explained by Einstein-an theories?
Can we connect the imprints on the palms to a future event? Can there be a logical explanation?
We come to God later. At this stage, we explain un-explainable with available information. What do you think?
